Harryram Parmesar was first appointed to the ICAC Board in 2001 and served as Vice-President, Secretary and Chairman of the ICAC’s Technical Committee prior to his election as President in June 2009. Under his leadership, a review of the ICAC’s Memorandum and Articles of Association was initiated with a view to strengthening the regulatory and governance structure of the ICAC. 

The Affiliation Agreement, which seeks to establish and maintain harmonized standards within the regional accountancy profession, was also entered into between the ICAC and its member bodies (regional institutes) during his tenure as president.

A past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Guyana (ICAG), he continues to serve as a member of ICAG’s Council. He was also Guyana’s representative on the International Assembly of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) from 2003 to 2009.

Mr. Parmesar is a Partner in the firm, Parmesar & Co., where he has responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the firm, managing over 20 staff and client services including Audit, Accounts, Taxation and Consultancy. He has over 31 years of experience in Assurance and Business Advisory Services, Taxation, Accounting, Systems Design and Implementation, and Corporate Secretarial Services.  He also has 20 years’ experience as a lecturer for the ACCA qualifications and has conducted many seminars on accounting, auditing and taxation.

He is the immediate past President of the Rotary Club of Georgetown and also served on the Executive of the Georgetown Cricket Club, the Georgetown Cricket Association and the Scouts Association of Guyana. He is also a Director for the Guyana Oil Company, Grace Kennedy Remittance Services, Demerara Distillers Limited, Demerara Bank Limited, Assuria Insurance (Gy) Inc and the St. Stanislus Board of Governor. He also represented the ICAC as a Trustee on the Caribbean Court of Justice from 2009 to 2014.
