Most Caribbean Countries Have Adopted Or Are In The Process Of Implementing IPSAS According To IFAC/ICAC Study

ImageMiss Misha Lobban has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean - the internationally recognized body for the accountancy profession in the Caribbean region. The appointment took effect February 1, 2008. She is a qualified public relations practitioner with over 14 years experience in PR management, marketing, media relations and promotions. She has extensive experience and knowledge of the accountancy profession having worked with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (a member body of the ICAC) for the past six years in the capacity of Public Relations Officer. In this role, she was responsible for the management and promotion of the ICAJ with a membership of over 800. She also acted as Executive Director for that body annually.

Miss Lobban also has experience in interfacing with key stakeholders within the regional and international accountancy profession. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) degree in English/Political Science and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies.

Miss Lobban is well positioned to assist in enhancing the regional profile of the ICAC and to play a cohesive role in establishing effective communication linkages among ICAC member institutes within the region. Her duties as CEO will include coordinating, implementing and monitoring the work of the ICAC Secretariat and to initiate strategies that will strengthen the work of the Institute and enhance its role within the region.

The ICAC was established under the laws of Jamaica and incorporated on October 28, 1988. It seeks to promote internationally acceptable standards of best practice and to foster a strong, cohesive and self-regulated regional accountancy profession. The ICAC also seeks to standardize rules of professional conduct and qualification requirements for entry within the regional accountancy profession. It also co-ordinates a regional practice monitoring programme for the profession in the region and provides leadership on issues as they affect the profession in the Caribbean.

The ICAC Secretariat is located in Jamaica.
