Mr. Elson Jordan
President
Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean
2003 - 2005

Elson-JordonDuring Elson Jordan's tenure as President, the ICAC was successful in achieving harmonisation of entry requirements for the region (a standard list of accrediting accounting bodies/accountancy qualifications that were approved and accepted by all member institutes). This was in an effort to facilitate the free movement of Chartered Accountants within the region in preparation for the implementation of the CSME.

Mr. Jordan was also instrumental in advancing the Institute’s efforts towards the implementation of a regional practice monitoring programme. Most noteworthy, the ICAC commissioned and installed its own flag as a symbol of a harmonized regional accountancy profession during his presidency. The ICAC flag, which is an important instrument, symbolic of the unity among member institutes and the identity of the ICAC brand, was formally launched at the 23rd annual Caribbean Conference of Accountants held in Belize in June 2005.

A past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB), he also served as Chairman for ICAB's Administration Committee, Task Force on Limited Liability for Public Accountants in Barbados, the By-law Review Committee and the Newsletter and Disciplinary Committees.

Mr. Jordan is also a past President of the Certified General Accountants of Association of Canada (CGA) Barbados and a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

He is a regional finance, accounting and management professional with technical skills in the areas of international development [donor] and regional [member states] resource management and project management. His employment in the Finance Programme of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat since 2005, has afforded him the opportunity to influence and shape the design of major accounting development and strategic financial initiatives of the Secretariat. He is also actively engaged in all elements of the financial management of the CARICOM Secretariat.
